MAGISTRATE Faith McGusty, on Friday July 12, 2019, sentenced an 18-year-old minibus tout to serve six months’ imprisonment for larceny.

Daniel Wilson appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and accepted the charge when it was read to him.

Particulars of the charge alleged that, on Wednesday July 10, 2019, at Lombard Street, Georgetown, Wilson stole $24,620 from Oswyn Roberts.
Police prosecutor Annalisa Brummel told the court that, on the day in question, Roberts, who is a minibus driver, was at Lombard Street, in the vicinity of the 42 bus park, conducting his business.

Brummel explained that the victim was looking for passengers for his minibus and had the money in his hand. It is alleged that Wilson approached the victim and snatched the money.

Wilson, attempted to run away, but Roberts gave chase along with a police officer, who was on mobile patrol. The defendant was apprehended and the money was recovered in his possession
The Magistrate, in handing down the sentence, considered Wilson’s acceptance of guilt to save the court’s time and sentenced him to six months in jail
